Know When Mandatory Work Is Due

Set a clear Finish by date on mandatory assignments, show it to learners, and spot Overdue people in Analyze before the audit asks.

You know the gap: content is Mandatory, but nobody shared a calendar deadline—so managers chase “almost done” forever. You can now set due dates on each mandatory target in Create, show learners a Finish by date, and filter Overdue in Analyze.

Mandatory due dates

  • Grace period and Complete by — On a Mandatory target under Visibility and targets, set a Grace period (minimum days from when the person gains visibility) and an optional Complete by date. Complete by is used only when it gives them more time than the grace period. If someone has multiple mandatory assignments for the same content, the earliest due date wins.
  • Finish by for learners — That due date appears as Finish by on the content in Learn and Home, so people know when it must be completed.
  • Overdue in Analyze — After the due date passes, unfinished people show as Overdue on User results. Filter Enrollment → Overdue, then email from the filtered list when you need a nudge.
  • Still separate from visibility windows — Visibility start / Visibility end control when people can see the content. They are not the due date.
